- First and foremost let us congratulate TheUpsetBrett for correctly picking the score of the Utah/Pitt match-up from last night. But, let's not throw the man a party just yet, Vegas got it exactly right as well (at least the spread).
- Utah's offense showed flashes of brilliance during last night's performance. Jordan Wynn played a magnificent second quarter and nearly delivered a knock-out punch shortly before the end of the first half. An interception in the back of the endzone cut Utah's chances at an early TKO down before they started. And it nearly came back to bite them.
- DeVonte Christopher and Jeremy Brooks were fantastic all night. You can't get a better combo of slot and stretch guys this side of the Mississippi. And is there a more physically imposing WR, speaking of Christopher, in the entire MWC? WOW.
- The Pitt offense was atrocious last night. Dion Lewis was held in check and young QB Tito or is it Tino Sunseri was never able to truly open up the offense. Had Pitt gone after the Utah secondary on more than just two occasions, the result might have been different.
- Bravo to the Utah defense. Going up against the "best RB they have faced in a decade" (not my words, just the Versus announcers doing their best version of the anecdotal fallacy. Um, Quizz Rodgers maybe?)
- Last night's result is yet another example of the travesty of pre-season polling. Was that Pitt squad really the 15th best team in the nation? I don't think so.
- In March Madness terms, Utah is going to be an extremely difficult out. Both TCU and BYU come to Rice-Eccles this season. The purple road to Froggy BCS pay-dirt goes straight through Rice-Eccles Stadium. And who is going to bet against Kyle Whittingham?
