Colorado State adds 4-game series with Texas San-Antonio

Colorado State announced that it has signed a deal to complete a 4-game series with the brand new Texas San-Antonio Roadrunners football program from 2015 to 2018.  It seems that the Rams are content with scheduling up for 1 game a year versus a BCS school, and then schedule it's remaining 3 non-conference games against lesser opponents.

Texas San-Antonio will begin it's first year of football in the 2011 season as an FCS Independent, with plans to become an FBS Independent in 2013.  The Roadrunners will be coached by Larry Coker, who lead Miami to a national championship in 2001.

Salt Lake Tribune: "No Double Standard at BYU"

Salt Lake Tribune columnists Kurt Kragthorpe opines on the Harvey Unga saga at BYU with some interesting ideas.  Much has been made of the schools all-time leading rusher and his withdrawal from school amidst possible honor code violations.  Kragthorpe argues that by holding Unga to the same standard as any other lower-profile student, BYU has again clarified that no double standard exists in terms of honor-code violations at the LDS-owned university.  Click the above link to follow the story to its source.

QB Smith leaves New Mexico

The New Mexico Lobos announced Tuesday that quarterback Tate Smith is leaving the program.  Coach Mike Locksley granted Smith a release that allows him to transfer to any school outside of the Mountain West and future Lobo non-conference opponents currently scheduled for the duration of Smith's college career.

Smith had seen some playing time in 2008 before redshirting in 2009.  His transfer is somewhat of a problem for the Lobos, who lost experienced signal-caller Donovan Porterie to graduation.  Coming off a 1-win season, Coach Locksley has a lot of work to do in Albuquerque.

Bible Basketball All-Stars Starting Line-Up

We depart from our usual on college football to bring you the Bible Basketball All-Stars Starting Line Up.  This was spurred by a comment after game 1 of Lakers/Suns that not even the Biblical All-Stars could beat the Lakers if Kobe scores 40, Gasol scores 21 and Odom scores 19 and grabs 19 boards.  So who would be our Bible starting 5? ...

PG: Saul - really good at executing
SG: David - a great shooter/slinger
SF: Elijah - dude has hops and speed, been known to blaze across the gym as a chariot of fire
PF: Solomon - man simply has a proven ability to score (1 Kings 11:1)
C: Peter - the Rock in the block, fiery leader, with occasional ability to deny at the rim

Don't worry ... we've moved inside away from the lightning storm.

Source: Unga Not Returning to BYU

A source close to The Upset spoke with Harvey Unga earlier this week. Unga essentially said that barring a miracle, he will not be able to re-enroll at BYU until January, and will therefore be unable to return to the football team. Unga told our source that he is almost certain to enter the NFL supplemental draft.

This report ends speculation that Unga might be able to return and play his senior season.
