Rate That Uni: Portland State

Today we visit the northwest in our uni ratings series. First stop: Portland State.

Brett: Love the helmet. Instead of taking the easy way out (Viking horns like Minnesota), the PSU Vikings have a solid, unique logo on the helmet. Not so in love with the green with black pants, but definitely better then the all-green look at home. I really like the road set with black pants. All whites are okay occasionally. Not many accent marks or weird stripes. It’s a modern design, but still simple. It does have the wrap-around stripe on the top, but for some reason I don’t find it too terrible looking on their design. It seems less prominent to me. Overall solid, but please don’t wear all green at home again.

John: So, I'm guessing this is Portland, OREGON and not Portland, Maine. Nike. Need I say more? The wraparound stripes, a retread of that horrible Miami design? Really? That's the best Portland State, in Nike's backyard, could come up with?

Mac said...: I too am not a huge fan of the all green uni’s, just too much of one color. Funny, but I do like the all white unis (go figure). The other combinations (Green, Black, White) all look cool. I really like how (it’s hard to see in all the pix) how they have the “Vikings” name is placed on the lower back of each jersey…cool new twist.

My favorite part is the helmet and the futuristic style Viking logo…really cool that they created a strong logo that can represent both women and men (students and athletes).; July 21, 2011 at 2:22 PM
