Rate That Uni: Stanford

Stanford battles Cal again, this time in uniform ratings. A way more classic look that Cal has to offer, which our panelists usually like. Make sure to cast your vote!

John: Well, this is a nice counterpoint to the Cal debacle, isn't it?  (Well, except for the unnecessary black uniform set. Why do teams insist on doing this?)  Forget the black uniforms for a moment. Stanford's got some pretty nice, understated uniforms. I think I'd prefer cardinal pants with the road uniform, but the white on white works just fine. And the home set is just stunning, making the 'black for black's sake" set all the more egregious. Ditch the black. Otherwise, well done.

Brett: If Stanford promises to drop the black alternate, I’m good. I’m not 100% philosophically opposed to black uniforms, it’s just these don’t look good. I remember seeing the Stanford/Wake Forest game on at a restaurant and I couldn’t figure out who was playing for quite a while. The rest of the unis are great though. Nothing to change there.

Zach: Stanford has one of the sharpest looks in all of college football. The uniform just exudes class and sophistication, which is what we should expect from the 'Harvard of the West.' Terrific pant stripes, a solid, if plain top. Love the idea of wearing the same pant at both home and road venues. The all-black will not be commented on, except to say that I decided not to dock Stanford's overall grade for a crappy alternate. In the end, Stanford rivals USC, UCLA, and old school Washington for the best threads in the Pac-12.

DJ: Stanford owns Cal in the jersey department. Stanford sticks with the traditional look and it works for them. The helmet doesn't really get me going, but I am not exactly sure what they could do to make it look better. So, leave it be for now. The only time I think they should change the helmet is when they wear all blacks. They need to add some semi major black accents or something else black in the helmet when they wear the blacks. Other than that, it's Stanford. They probably have some calculated formula to not be polarizing, but still have people like them. B.

If Stanford used the black pants with the cardinal top, it might look ...alright...

I agree, not a fan of monochrome uniforms. Alright is a good way of putting it. The real question: Why would you go away from such beautiful home unis?
