Rate That Uni: Washington

Today marks the last day of the Pac-12 uniform battles as we venture to the Evergreen State. First up is the Huskies. Cast your votes!

Zach: Washington has been trying to find a niche in the uniform market for the past few years. The results have been mixed. Thankfully, the Huskies haven't changed the helmet. Solid. I think the new look has some potential. I don't like the stripes on the pants. It looks strange when compared to the top. The purple pants (sans stripes) are terrific. Do it on the white ones too. I actually like the tops. I like the color scheme and the thin stripes, ala Missouri. Overall, I think the Huskies should revert back to the classic UW look.

Brett: Where did the gold pants at home go? The fat pant stripes almost wreck the home uniform. Bring back the gold pants please. The pant stripes on the white pants are just too huge. I love the purple pants on the road, it looks great. Black unis are meh, and the helmet is solid. Bring back the gold pants at home and you are in A-territory.

John: Washington's uniforms are generally solid, but they seem to have a bit of an identity crisis in the post-Don James era.  First, ditch the black.  If you've been reading this series from the beginning, you know that's a standard critique for teams that use a black alternate.  Second, decide on an overall style.  Does Washington want to be identified with bold stripes or solid colors with thin piping?  I prefer the former, but if they choose the latter, they should use solid white pants rather than the bold stripes down the sides.  The jersey and pant styles are very mismatched when they wear the white pants, as opposed to the purple pants.  Finally, get rid of the collar that continues to the armpit instead of the front of the collar.  Pick a style and go with it.  No more mix and match, please.

DJ: Purple has never been a great team color, but the Dawgs do a great job in their uniforms. In fact, they are in the top tier of uniforms in the Pac12, which is difficult to do. Out of the teams that use a gold dominated helmet, Washington does a wonderful job. In my humble opinion, Washington has a better helmet than the Golden Domers. The purple and gold looks great together. All the pants look good, but I am not crazy for some of the tops. The tops bring the jersey grades down just a tad. Overall, Washington has a very good jersey.
