Week 6 Predictions

Another week, more predictions. Last week we fared a bit better, but Air Force and SMU surprised us a little bit. Here's this week's action, starting with tonight's WACtion ... MWCtion ... non-conference matchup between Boise State and Fresno State.

#5 BOISE STATE (4-0) @ FRESNO STATE (2-3)
Friday Oct. 7 | 7:00 pm MT | ESPN

ZACH: Kellen Moore looked human last week. Fresno played Ole Miss tough at home. Boise is a little more difficult of a challenge. BOISE 37 FRESNO 17
BRETT: I know this series is always closer when played in Fresno, but Ole Miss was a team Fresno should have beat last week. BOISE 36 FRESNO 19
DJ: IMO, BSU is still not a top 5 program, but they're the better team. BSU 38 FRESNO 14
BRADFORDBOISE 45 FRESNO 28

SATURDAY

AIR FORCE (3-1) @ NOTRE DAME (3-2)
1:30 pm MT | NBC

ZACH: The Falcons surprised many by beating Navy last week. Notre Dame has finally found a groove on both sides of the football. Irish roll. ND 41 AFA 20
BRETT: Air Force, as much as I hate to admit it, hasn't really shown enough to prove they can beat a team like Notre Dame on the road. They had Navy down 21-3 and couldn't step on Navy's throat. Notre Dame's offense will be too good (as long as they don't turn it over). ND 38 AFA 23
DJ: This will be a great game to watch. I think ND sneaks one out. ND 32 AFA 31
BRADFORDND 31 AFA 20

#22 ARIZONA STATE (4-1) @ UTAH (2-2)
1:30 pm MT | Root Sports/FSN

ZACH: Utah had a chance to compete for the Pac-12 South Title before Jordan Wynn went down. Sadly, unlike in years past, there isn't a Alex Smith or Brett Ratliff on the bench to save the Utes from quarterback problems. That being said, Arizona State is still Arizona State (See Erickson, Dennis) and is a different team away from Sun Devil Stadium. This one will be closer than most expect. ASU 21 UTAH 13
BRETT: Sometimes backups like Jon Hays can come in and surprise everyone. I don't think we've seen enough from Jon Hays to know if he can lead the Utes to wins or not. The Sun Devils have only played one road game this year, a 17-14 loss where the offense failed to get off the plane. I think maybe we see ASU surprise us a little with some competence. ASU 31 UTAH 14
DJ: Not close. ASU 38 UTAH 10
BRADFORDASU 30 UTAH 24

ARIZONA (1-4) @ OREGON STATE (0-4)
1:30 pm MT | Fox College Sports

ZACH: The records may look similar, but Arizona has played a ridiculously difficult schedule to open the season. Thankfully for the Other Fightin Stoops, Oregon State will be a welcomed sight after playing three Top 10 teams (and USC) the past four weeks alone! ARIZ 41 OSU 20
BRETT: Perfect proof of "no two records are made equally." ARIZ 45 OSU 24
DJ: I want OSU to win, but I don't think they will. ARIZ 35 OSU 24
BRADFORDARIZ 38 OSU 34

MONTANA STATE (4-1) @ PORTLAND STATE (3-1)
2:05 pm MT | Comcast Sports Network

ZACH: Bobcats are for real. MONT ST 31 PORT ST 21
BRETT: Based on quality of opponents played and score margins, MSU looks like a better team. MONT ST 27 PORT ST 20
DJ: Montana State has beaten a lot of good teams this year. Add Portland State to the list. MONT ST 38 PORT ST 21
BRADFORDMONT ST 31 PORT ST 30

LOUISIANA TECH (1-4) @ IDAHO (1-4)
3:00 pm MT

ZACH: Both teams have had chances to upset BCS teams on the road this year. Both couldn't quite get it done. LA TECH 13 IDAHO 12
BRETT: Have a feeling Louisiana Tech is ready to let out some frustrations. LA TECH 37 IDAHO 17
DJ: LaTech should beat Idaho. LA TECH 31 IDAHO 17
BRADFORDLA TECH 28 IDAHO 27

UNLV (1-3) @ NEVADA (1-3)
5:00 pm MT | ESPN3.com

ZACH: Nevada has absolutely dominated this series as of late. No reason to think anything has changed. NEVADA 38 UNLV 14
BRETT: NEVADA 30 UNLV 12
DJ: UNLV is TERRIBLE. NEVADA 41 UNLV 21
BRADFORD: NEVADA 35 UNLV 20

COLORADO (1-4) @ #7 STANFORD (4-0)
5:30 pm MT | Versus

ZACH: Colorado lost to Wazzu at home last week. Repeat: Colorado lost to Wazzu at home last week. HIDE THE KIDS. STANFORD 51 CU 17
BRETT: STANFORD 41 CU 10
DJ: Not a chance in hell. STANFORD 50 CU 20
BRADFORDSTANFORD 48 CU 20

WYOMING (3-1) @ UTAH STATE (1-3)
6:00 pm MT | ESPN3.com

ZACH: Wyoming has played well in the early stages of the season. Utah State has upped the Prozac prescriptions in the Logan area 10-fold. Despite the records, I think Utah State is a better football team. The Ags finally finish one. USU 34 WYO 21
BRETT: Wyoming has looked better than anticipated, but so has Utah State. Just all about finishing now for the Aggies. Since they are at home, I think they will. Like I predicted and explained to our friends at Cowboy Altitude -- USU 31 WYO 26
DJ: If USU losses here, I will never pick them again. GIVE THE BALL TO TURBIN. USU 35 WYO 21
BRADFORD: USU 34 WYO 24

SAN JOSE STATE (2-3) @ BYU (3-2)
8:15 pm MT | ESPNU

ZACH: Talk of the Big12 has overshadowed the dumpster fire that continues to be the BYU offense. San Jose State is seeking its first back-to-back non-conference road wins since 1982. Maybe we should just call this the Dumpster Fire Bowl. BYU 27 SJSU 13
BRETT: If Brandon Rutley plays and is healthy, SJSU can hang, I think. If not, the Spartans offense will be even more impotent than BYU's -- a feat only Ole Miss has accomplished so far this year. BYU 26 SJSU 18
DJ: I love me some Riley abs/hair. BYU 31 SJSU 19
BRADFORDBYU 29 SJSU 20

WASHINGTON STATE (3-1) @ UCLA (2-3)
8:30 pm MT | FSN

ZACH: The Cougs have been surprisingly competitive this season. Even without the services of QB Jeff Tuel, Wazzu won its opening Pac-12 contest. Not a small feat to be sure. UCLA is more talented, however, and I would be surprised to see Pistol Rick lose at home to the Cougs. If he does, stick a fork in his future in Westwood. UCLA 31 WAZZU 21
BRETT: I predicted the Cougs last week on the road, and I'm doing it again. Team of destiny(or something like that)! WAZZU 31 UCLA 27
DJ: Tough, tough game. UCLA 34 WAZZU 31
BRADFORDUCLA 34 WAZZU 31

TCU (3-2) @ SAN DIEGO STATE (3-1)
8:30 pm MT | CBS Sports Network

ZACH: Until San Diego State qualifies for the bright lights, you can't pick em. Many thought SDSU was ready for a breakout at Michigan earlier this year. The Aztecs performance in Ann Arbor was atrocious. TCU is fresh off of a B12 invite and Gary Patterson will not lose two games in a row. TCU 33 SDSU 23
BRETT: Hard to see TCU losing back-to-back, but the defense is getting lit up by good offense teams. I'm going with the Aztecs in a shootout. SDSU 47 TCU 41
DJ: I should have went with my gut last week saying SMU would beat TCU. I am going against my gut again. TCU 33 SDSU 31
BRADFORDTCU 30 SDSU 27
