2011 MWC Bowl Schedule

All five bowl-eligible teams in the Mountain West are bowl bound, as Air Force slides nicely into voids left by Army and Navy both being ineligible for bowl berths.

WYOMING (8-4)
vs. TEMPLE (8-4)
New Mexico Bowl | Albuquerque, NM
Sat. December 17 - 12:00 pm MT - ESPN

Wyoming kicks off bowl season in New Mexico after a surprise third-place finish in the Mountain West. Freshman quarterback Brett Smith has been nothing short of excellent for the Cowboys, who will have to reckon with rushing power Bernard Pierce and the Temple Owls.

SAN DIEGO STATE (8-4)
vs. LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE (8-4)
New Orleans Bowl | New Orleans, LA
Sat. December 17 - 7:00 pm MT - ESPN

The Aztecs reprised their breakout season with another 8-4 campaign and a return to the postseason. Ronnie Hillman is every bit as good as last year (1,656 yards this season) and will be a handful for Louisiana-Lafayette. The Ragin' Cajuns finished third in the Sun Belt and have qualified for their first-ever bowl game under first-year coach Mark Hudspeth.

#18 TCU (10-2)
vs. LOUISIANA TECH (8-4)
Poinsettia Bowl | San Diego, CA
Wed. December 21 - 6:00 pm MT - ESPN

TCU has won 10 games yet again, but missed out on a third-straight BCS bowl berth thanks to an inexplicable home loss to an average SMU team. Pachall has been accurate and James, Tucker, and Wesley are a tough trio. Louisiana Tech is your surprise WAC champion in its second year under Sonny Dykes. The Bulldogs went 6-1 in WAC play after heartbreaking losses to Southern Miss (2 points), Houston (1 point), and Mississippi State (overtime) in non-conference action.

#7 BOISE STATE (11-1)
vs. ARIZONA STATE (6-6)
Las Vegas Bowl | Las Vegas, NV
Thurs. December 22 - 6:00 pm MT - ESPN

Just one kick away from another BCS bowl and this year ... *gulp* ... playing for the BCS championship. Such is the life of Kellen Moore, who is 48-3 and is looking to put the final cap on his career and add one more win to his record-setting total. The Broncos take on Arizona State and ZOMG BROCK OSWEILER IS SO TALL! The Sun Devils were 6-2 before losing their final four games (three to teams with losing records) and have fired Dennis Erickson.

AIR FORCE (7-5)
vs. TOLEDO (8-4)
Military Bowl | Washington D.C.
Wed. December 28 - 2:30 pm MT - ESPN

Despite squeaking into bowl eligibility (the Falcons played two FCS teams), Air Force did win the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy for the second straight year under senior QB Tim Jefferson. The Falcons head to Washington D.C. to face the Toledo Rockets. Led by dynamic receiver and returner Eric Page, the Rockets have not scored less than 44 points in five games, and have posted 60 or more twice this year.

Really a shame that AZ State gets into a nice bowl with that collapse. One of the top teams in the country (BSU) against a 6-6 team. BSU screwed

Blame conference tie-ins. We have an article coming on that later today.
