Here's the slate of bowl teams from the WAC, which is a short list this year -- you can thank Hawaii's loss to UNLV and San Jose State's loss to Idaho for that.
UTAH STATE (7-5)
vs. OHIO (9-4)
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl | Boise, Idaho
Sat. December 17 - 3:30 pm MT - ESPN
After a rough start with heartbreaking losses, Utah State has rebounded and qualified for its first bowl since 1997. The Aggies went 5-2 in the WAC, and 9 of their 12 games were decided by 7 points or less, including the last 6. Ohio is in its fourth bowl in 7 years under Frank Solich, and is still seeking its first ever bowl win in school history. Ohio went 6-2 in the MAC and blew a 20-0 halftime lead to Northern Illinois in the MAC Championship Game.
LOUISIANA TECH (8-4)
vs. #18 TCU (10-2)
Poinsettia Bowl | San Diego, California
Wed. December 21 - 6:00 pm MT - ESPN
Louisiana Tech is your surprise WAC champion in its second year under Sonny Dykes. The Bulldogs went 6-1 in WAC play after heartbreaking losses to Southern Miss (2 points), Houston (1 point), and Mississippi State (overtime) in non-conference action. TCU has won 10 games yet again, but missed out on a third-straight BCS bowl berth thanks to an inexplicable home loss to an average SMU team.
NEVADA (7-5)
vs. #21 SOUTHERN MISS (11-2)
Hawaii Bowl | Honolulu, Hawaii
Sat. December 24 - 6:00 pm MT - ESPN
Nevada was on track to win the WAC until dropping consecutive games to Louisiana Tech and Utah State. The Wolf Pack feature one of the best run games in the country and will be facing a pretty strong defense in Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles are the Conference USA champions fresh off a big upset over sixth-ranked Houston in the C-USA title game, and coach Larry Fedora is a hot name on many coaching boards.
