Five Steps to College Football Perfection
As an unwashed American football fan there is nothing quite like Saturday afternoon's come fall time. The pageantry and emotion of college football is something to behold. It washes over this great nation of ours from Labor Day to New Year's, bringing memories of games won and lost, and stories which speak to the soul. The game, however, is not without flaw. I submit to you five rule changes that would remedy what I consider small residue on the nearly-spotless garment of college football. (EDITORS NOTE: THIS IS NOT ANOTHER LAME ANTI/PRO BCS ARTICLE. Rate That Uni: Colorado State
After yesterday's polarizing post on the bright uniforms of Boise State, we continue in the Mountain West and move southeast to Fort Collins, for the Colorado State Rams. It appears our panelists are slightly disenchanted by CSU's new uniforms they debuted in 2010.
After reading our thoughts, tell us what you think in the poll at the bottom of the post, and feel free to leave comments.

BYU and ESPN attempting to bring the bacon
If even just most of the rumors now coming out about BYU's future schedules are true, even BYU fans couldn't have imagined such a compelling national schedule like the one the Cougars seem to be rolling out.
The long-rumored agreement with Hawaii that became official today, which has BYU playing Hawaii "almost annually" through 2020, is the official BYU scheduling news of the day. The names in the rumor mill, however, are interesting. Very interesting.

How Twitter Changed My Sports Fandom
Twitter has completely changed the way I intake, view, and digest the sporting experience.
The day was December 6, 2009. I had recently signed up for Twitter and was finding my way. The BCS Selection Show was about two hours from beginning. As a fan of Non-AQ football, I was excited to see where undefeated Boise State and undefeated TCU would be placed in the Bowl Championship Series. I was scrolling through tweets from commentators predicting where each team would end up. Then it happened. Pete Thamel of the New York Times and Dan Wetzel of Yahoo! Sports broke the story. TCU and Boise State were going to play one another in the “Separate But Equal” Fiesta Bowl. Instantly I had inside access. This has happened again and again.

UNLV and Arizona agree to 4-year basketball series
Earlier this morning, new UNLV head coach Dave Rice tweeted an announcement of a verbal agreement with Arizona to face off in basketball.
I am personally pleased with this announcement. College sports are very much a regional thing, and while it is important for many schools to make news nationally, regional non-conference matchups like this are what makes college sports fun. Now if college football could just catch on...

CFB Examiner Podcast - Conference transitions, BYU rumors, and a look at the 2011 season
Our own Brett Hein joined CFB Examiner's Kevin McGuire for the No 2 Minute Warning podcast today. The discussion centered around MWC and WAC expansions, BYU independence, and what to expect in the 2011 season.
Editor's Note: A technological glitch seemed to have omitted praise for Air Force, who was noted as a consistent competitor in and out of conference.

Legendary Air Force coach Fisher DeBerry elected to CFB Hall of Fame
The National Football Foundation Board of Directors announced today that former Air Force head coach Fisher DeBerry has been elected into the College Football Hall of Fame.
More than well deserving, DeBerry led Air Force to a 169-109-1 record in his 23-year tenure in Colorado Springs. His teams posted 17 winning seasons, including 12 bowl bids in which the Falcons went 6-6. Especially important at the academy was that DeBerry captured the Commander-in-Chief trophy 14 times outright in his 23 years.

It's Official: Utah-BYU back on ESPN
ESPN made official today what has been expected since BYU and ESPN announced their TV deal: the Utah-BYU rivalry will be back on ESPN. The Worldwide Leader announced that the September 17th matchup in Provo will be televised on ESPN2. What may not have been expected, however, is that the game will fill a primetime slot, kicking off at 7:15 pm MT.
The 2011 game will mark the first time the rivalry has aired on ESPN since 2004, when the original-BCS-busting Utes capped their perfect season with a blowout victory over the Cougars.

FootballPHDs: Utes have the right dose
The folks over at FootballPhDs have their Pac-12 review up. It will surely be the cause of some discussion. Utah is slated to finish at 11-1 in the regular season. FootballPhDs foresees the Utes beating both USC and BYU on the road in September. They have the Utes winning the Pac-12 South and facing off with Oregon in the inaugural Pac-12 Title Game. By all intents and purposes, this would be the greatest possible scenario that fans of the Crimson could expect.
What do you think? Are the Utes primed for a run at the Pac-12 Title in their first season as members of the conference?

WAC to discuss expansion on June 14
WAC commissioner Karl Benson told The Idaho Statesman today that the WAC is meeting on June 14 to discuss further expansion.
The Zombie WAC, as Denver aficionado Brendan Loy so affectionately calls the beleaguered conference, seems to be shoring itself up as a viable conference, at least non-football wise. One has to wonder, however, if the WAC can survive without ensuring its future as a football conference.
