When a Cam Griffin layup cut the score to 47-41, Denver had finally cut deep into its deficit with less than six minutes left. But Pioneers were 5-29 from three and shot 29.5 percent overall, so they could not make the comeback. Chase Hallam scored 19 points and was DU's leading scorer in the loss.
The Colorado State win was part of a night that moved the Mountain West's combined conference record to 31-4.
